Love of Allah

What is true love? Many of us claim that we love Allah. We like facebook pages that have to do with loving Allah and the prophet and all that… but how many of us actually prove it?

Now, before I move any further, I would like to make it clear that this note is not referred to anyone specifically, it is just to maybe make a difference, or a reality check. As always, whatever I am writing goes to me first, and then ofcourse anyone else reading this.

“I love Allah,” a statement so easily used, so easily said…but unfortunately many of us do not know the true meaning of the word, love.

Loving Allah does not just simply consist of claiming it, or doing one or two things…it has to do with a lot.

1. Prayer (Salah)

If we truly love Allah the way we say we do, then why is it so hard for us to pray 5 times a day? It does not take anything more than 10 minutes, and sometimes even less. Why does lifting up our blankets becomes such a challenge during Fajr? Why do we let worldly affairs to keep us from praying Zuhr, Asr, and Maghrib? Why is being tired the number one excuse to miss Ishaa? We love Allah, so why is it such a mission to give thanks to our Lord, our CREATOR, 5 times a day? Prayer is a must, it is one of our 5 pillars. Why can we not show Allah we love Him by praying all our namazes? A companion of Prophet (Sallalaho-Alahi-Wassalam) came to him one day and asked him, “What is the thing that Allah loves most?” Muhammad ((Sallalaho-Alahi-Wassalam) replied, “The thing that Allah loves most is when his people pray Salah on time.” [Bukhari]

2. Partner

When we love a person, we love that person with all our hearts. We go out of our way to talk to that person. We stay up all night talking to that person, and then once the conversation is over, we wait to talk to that person again later on. When we love a person, we do ANYTHING that is in our hands to prove it. When the person we love does not talk to us, we get upset; we cry and try to work things out. Why can’t we love our Lord that much? Why is the Creation getting more love and attention than the Creator?

If you give your partner a present, and your partner loves the present so much that they ignore you and start giving the present a higher value..how would you feel? How would you feel if your partner did not even say thanks once? It would hurt right? Give this a thought.

Everyone has love for Allah hidden in them, but we must prove it.

If you don’t pray all 5 Prayers, then start doing so.

If you haven’t opened the Quran, open it. Read atleast one page or so.

If you haven’t said Alhamdullilah, say Alhamdullilah all day every day.

Allah has given you so much! You are breathing right now because of Allah. You are able to read, write, talk, walk and EVERY move you make, is given to you by none but Allah. If He wills, He can take it away from you ANYTIME.

Actions speak LOUDER than words.

Saying you love Allah is one thing, but proving it is a whole another thing.

“A time will come when my Ummah will love five (things) and forget five others: they will love this world and forget the Hereafter; they will love money and forget the Reckoning; they will love creation and forget the Creator; they will love sins and forget repentance; they will love palaces and forget the grave.”

"The sins that you do in private kills the heart more than the sins that you do in public, because it means that you value the eyes of the people more than you value the sight of Allah. You are more worried about people catching you sinning than Allah seeing you."
Imam Ibn Qudamah (via imaan-daar)
